How Many of Each Ring Size Should I Stock?

As a jewelry retailer, you know how important it is to purchase your inventory wisely. Carry too little of something, and you don’t have it to sell when the next customer comes looking for it. Carry too much of something, and it can sit in your inventory for too long and hurt your bottom line.

This is especially important when choosing ring sizes, as you don’t want to be left with a large number of rings in uncommon sizes.

In our experience, the following are the most common distributions of ring sales by size.

Women’s Rings:
Size 5 – 8%
Size 6 – 20%
Size 7 – 35%
Size 8 – 20%
Size 9 – 12%
Size 10 – 5%

Women’s rings tend to sku very heavily towards size 7. Then sizes 6 & 8. Then size 9. Then finally sizes 5 and 10. Size 4 is primarily for children.

For smaller rings that attract younger customers, the ratios above would shift towards smaller sizes. For ring styles that are preferred by older customers, the ratios would shift towards larger sizes. Our own inventory takes the above into consideration, which is why on some styles you see that we carry sizes 5-10, while on others we carry sizes 6-9 or sizes 5-9.

Men’s Rings:
Size 9 – 25%
Size 10 – 25%
Size 11 – 25%
Size 12 – 15%
Size 13 – 10%

Men’s ring sales by size are much more evenly distributed compared to women’s ring sizes.

Please note that the above are just guidelines, based on our experience across a very wide range of ring styles. The actual distribution of sales by ring size can vary based on the style of the ring and each retailer’s specific location and targeted demographic.

How we measure jewelry?

We have prepared brief information about how we measure our jewelry.
Let it be an indication for you, while choosing products.

At the same time we remind you that the product photos are for reference purposes only, and they are not meant to present the product in its actual size. In order to determine the product size you can make use of the product description and technical specifications on its page. The difference between the photograph of the product and its actual appearance resulting from device display settings (e.g. colour of the product, proportions etc.) do not constitute grounds for complaints.

Earrings dimensions:

Earrings dimensions are given in millimetres.

  • Stud Earrings Dimensions:
are given in the form of a length x width format.
  • Dangle Earrings Dimensions and others always are given according to the pattern:
Length is measured from top to bottom, including the clasp.
Width is always measured at the widest point.
Diameter is given for flower or ball shaped earrings.
Rings dimensions:
Rings dimensions are always given in millimetres.
  • Width – for rings without decorative elements, is the widest point of the ring shank.
  • Diameter- is given when the decorative element, zircon or gem stone is round.
  • Dimensions – if the shape of decorative element has two different dimensions, they are given in length x width format.
Chains and bracelets dimensions:
Width and diameter of chains and bracelets is given in millimetres, whereas length is given in centimetres.
  • Width of the element of bracelets and chains made up of repetitive elements is measured in the widest point of this repetitive element. If those decorative elements are different sizes, then the width of the widest element is given.
  • Diameter is given for chains and bracelets with a cross section of the cylinder.
  • Width is measured when bracelets and necklaces are “flat” or have a shape different from a cylinder.
  • Length is measured always with the clasp, as a real length of fastened bracelet or chain. If products has an adjustable length we always give the shortest possible length and the longest possible length.

IMPORTANT! Thickness is determined by symbols such as: Ø020, Ø0150, Ø220 etc. Those are production symbols, which for average client do not say too much about the product. We recommend using the information about the width or diameter of the product appearing in its description.

Pendant Dimensions:
pendant
Dimensions of pendants are given in milometers.
  • Length, as shown in the picture, is measured from top to bottom, including the bail.
  • Width is always measured at the widest point of the pendant.

Measuring size

Checking the size of a ring:

The best way for checking your ring size is simply to go a jewelry store and ask to measure your finger size using jeweler’s sizing tool, which usually consists of a series of rings in different sizes.

The next method is measuring the diameter of your current ring. You can check it using a normal ruler. However, make sure that the round shape of the chosen ring is maintained, otherwise, the result may be false. The next step is to compare your outcome with our size table. If the number of your result is between those given in the table, you have to choose the closest to a higher size.

If you don’t have a suitable ring that you can measure, you can use normal thread (just make sure it’s not stretchy). Wrap the thread or string around the widest place on your finger. Cut or mark the place where the thread wraps the finger up completely, then check the length of the thread and convert the result into millimetres. Divide the outcome by 3.14 and you will get the diameter of the ring, which you can compare with our table like in the second method.

Choosing the length of the chain or necklace:

The choice of the chain or necklace length depends solely on your taste and on the look that you want to get. The smallest size we offer is a 38 cm, which is a tight-fitting necklace, whereas the longest is 80 cm long. You can also fit your chain individually at a local jewelry store. Then the jeweler can disconnect links from your chain, which you should keep in case you change your mind.
